newly sliding material for bearings ETA-certified ROBO-SLIDE 75 from mageba

Our industry-leading sliding material for bearings is now even better than before!

For over 15 years, mageba’s ROBO®SLIDE sliding material has delivered vastly superior performance to that of PTFE when used to facilitate sliding in structural bearings – but now the newly ETA-certified ROBO®SLIDE 75 offers even greater benefits

Always striving to optimise our products and improve the benefits they offer to bridge and building constructors and operators all around the world, we are proud to announce that mageba has developed the next generation of UHMWPE sliding material. The new, improved ROBO®SLIDE 75 has been tested extensively and offers many benefits:

  • Market-leading durability, with resistance to abrasion tested for a record accumulated sliding path of 75 km or 75 years respectively

  • Double the compressive strength of PTFE when used in compact bearings

  • Tested for use with stainless steel, hard chromed and special alloy mating surfaces

  • PFAS free

  • Temperature range -50°C to +80°C

  • Friction coefficient always below that of PTFE according to EN 1337-2

  • Has been awarded the European Technical Assessment (ETA) 23/0831

Everything you need to know about the new high-performance sliding material can be found in the ROBO®SLIDE 75 brochure.

Moreover, PTFE belongs to the group of so-called “eternal chemicals” (PFAS, or per- and polyfluorinated substances) which are inert against degradation. With the European Union having already announced a general ban of these substances, alternatives such as ROBO®SLIDE 75 will be increasingly required in the near future as an alternative to PTFE. But thanks to its far superior bearing capacity and resistance to wear, this will be an easy transition to make!

Not yet convinced? ROBO®SLIDE 75 has been awarded the ETA 23/0831.

ROBO®SLIDE 75, with all its additional advantages, builds on the success of its predecessor! The original ROBO®SLIDE high-grade sliding material has long been a key factor in the success of numerous mageba products, thanks in particular to its very high bearing capacity and its extraordinary durability. These advantages have enabled bearings to be designed far smaller than they would otherwise need to be, while also greatly extending the service life they can provide without replacement of sliding materials.

The enormous impact ROBO®SLIDE has had on the design of bridge bearings is demonstrated by the structural bearings supplied for the Tran Thi Ly Bridge in Vietnam (2011), the Queensferry Crossing in Scotland (2015) and the Third Bosphorus Bridge in Türkiye (2016).
